Tennessee Tutoring Corps aims to recruit at least 1,000 qualified high school graduates and college students to serve as tutors to children entering 1st grade through 4th grade in the fall of 2021. In order to serve as a tutor, students must meet certain qualifications outlined below.

Qualifications

In order to serve as a tutor, college students must:

  • Demonstrate a desire to support the academic growth of elementary-age students;

  • Be a 2021 high school graduate or an undergraduate currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution or in their first year out of college;

  • Provide an unofficial college transcript or high school transcript; and

  • Pass a background check.

Preference will be given to college students who:

  • Have a 3.0 GPA or higher;

  • Are a Tennessee resident.
